Can you tell me what the taxi fare would be to go from the Cancun airport to the Grand Palladium. Haven't decided if we want to wait and go on the bus or take a taxi

Hi Sask! waves hello

It would be around 80 dollars and usually a little cheaper going back to the airport from the Palladium.

Were you going to take a taxi from Playa if you take the bus from the airport?

You can also get a shared van at the airport, which would probably be around 25 dollars per person. You have to make stops along the way to let other people off, though.

If it were me, I'd probably take a bus and then a taxi from Playa.

When are you going?

-Jen

I would do the same as Jen. The bus is faster than the Grey Van because it doesn't stop at hotels.

Hi Jen
We are going the first part of Jan. We had thought about taking the bus, wasn't sure how easy that would be. We would be getting into the airport about 1pm. Just don't like the idea of being in a crowded van, would travel better on a coach bus or in a taxi Thanks Carol

The bus runs every hour to Playa from the airport. It's very easy to find. The bus has the word ADO on the side, they are large, red and white buses and you can buy tickets in the terminal or at the bus itself. There is storage underneath for your bags, they are air conditoned, and show movies. Upon exiting the terminal at Terminal 3 walk past Coconuts bar to the right and the bus parking are is right there on the right. If you fly in to Terminal 2 on a charter flight then you walk out of the terminal, turn to the right and walk down past the terminals to the end. The bus will be on the right. Again you can buy tickets there. On the return trip the bus will leave you off at Terminal 2 regardless of whether you are leaving from 2 or 3. There is a free shuttle from 2 to 3 to the left of where the bus leaves you off. It is clearly marked as the shuttle to terminal 3 on a sign.

The bus will leave you off at the terminal on the corner of 5th Ave and Juarez in Playa. The taxi's are directly outside to the south on Juarez.

Sounds easier than trying to catch a taxi. Are the bus rates still around the $8. Are these coach bus's with washrooms on them, or small bus's. When we come home we fly out about 2am, would there still be bus's going from PDC in the pm, probably leave the hotel around 9:30pm

The bus is super easy! It is comfortable, so I find it relaxing after being couped up on the plane and then going through customs. Yes, they are coaches and they are made by Mercedes Benz, you know. They have a washroom in the back. Mexico is way more lax on seatbelts and car seats. Sometimes I find the seat belt is broken on the bus. I have never had a problem moving to a seat that had a belt on the way to Playa. From Playa to the airport it has always been full for me. Otherwise, as Sue said, they have tvs and play movies and the seats recline and have foot rests.

There is not a bus that leaves Playa back to the airport at that time.

You could take a bus from the Playa airport to downtown Cancun and then either transfer to another bus or take a taxi to the airport.

The bus from the airport to Playa is 80 pesos, so we just usually go with 10 pesos to the US dollar. It's actually a little less with the exchange rate.

The bus from Playa to downtown Cancun is 36 pesos and takes one hour on the ADO line. (Other busses run to downtown CUN and take a little longer).

The bus from downtown Cancun to the airport is 35 pesos.

There is a bus that departs downtown Playa at 1005 PM which gets into Cancun at 1105 and then an 1130 PM bus to the airport which will get you there at midnight.

That is if you were going next week. I'm sure the schedule could change a little by January but probably not by much.

It would take a little longer that way, but what else are you going to be doing at ten PM on the night of your departure?

I always take busses all over down there. Sue takes the airport bus. I've taken many people with me on the bus and everyone seems to be happy with it. Many have come here to the site for info and came back to say it was easy and worked out great. They are pretty good to running on schedule, too. There is nothing finer than a bus ride to begin and end your mexico vacation. Laughing

Do you live in Canada?

-Jen

Yes we're from Canada (Sask.). We'll be staying at the Grand Palladium. There is a land transfer included in our package but last time we used a transfer it was quite a LONG trip and very overcrowded-(more passengers than seats- mind you this was in the D.R. not Mexico) If we don't have to pre-book our seats we will probably just take the bus to Playa and then cab it to the resort, right now it sounds like it will be easy enough to find the bus's

Hi Jen,

Last week I got 12.70 pesos to the dollar. The highest I've seen it in a very long time.
