FEBRUARY 20-FEBRUARY 28

February 28
Shari had set the travel alarm clock (a lot of the small hotels don't have clocks or phones) for 6:00 AM. The clock didn't go off, but fortunately Shar woke up right around six.

Cafe Sasta wasn't open, yet, but Java Joe's was and they are just around the corner. I had my last coffee on the balcony and finished up getting ready to roll our bags back down to the bus station.

The bus makes a couple of stops, now, but they are very short. One stop was on Constituyentes, right before the highway and the other was near some resort along the way.

We got to Terminal 2 shortly after 9:00 and walked over to catch the Terminal 1 shuttle which is between where the bus drops you off and where you catch the bus to Playa.

Our flight was scheduled to depart at 10:55 AM, and was showing a 10-minute delay. There was nobody in the check-in line, so it only took a few minutes for them to search our luggage and give us our boarding passes.

We went outside for a little bit to enjoy the last few minutes warm, sunny weather. We browsed a few of the stores inside and I bought a purse, since we had some pesos left.

The check-in agent had assigned us a very roomy emergency exit row in the back, and the seat next to us was open-so I moved over to the window leaving the seat between us empty. We were able to catch a few zzz's on the way back to our cold and snowy ice palace we call home.

Conclusion
I say this every year, but we just didn't have enough time to go everywhere we wanted to. I still haven't made it over to the Northern beaches by Mamitas, Shangri-la Caribe or Cocoa Beach.

I still have several day trips I need to make, but you can only do so many and still have enough time to relax and enjoy everything right in Playa del Carmen.

The prices keep increasing, but I ended up spending about the same as I have every year since my first trip.

Breakdown of my expenses:

All in all, I think it was a very fun and successful trip. Everything went off pretty well without a hitch. After I got home I checked my email. My inbox contained an email from Hotel Villa del Mar dated February 28: (paraphrased)

"I'm sorry, we don't have the room you requested available for February 20. We may have a different room available. Please resubmit your request for another room or another date."

Ummmm, maybe next year, amigos...
