Most people like to be close to downtown's main street, which is 5th Avenue, and the beach. Keep in mind that the Avenues are numbered in fives. 1st Avenue is the closest to the beach. 5th Avenue is the next block up, and a very short walk to the beach. So, 10th Avenue is really only one block from 5th Avenue. 10th Avenue is about 3 1/2 blocks to the beach.

"Calle" means street in Spanish. The streets, or Calles, are evenly numbered. Therefore, Calle 2 is only one block from Calle 4. I have listed the street numbers as Calle since that is what you will see on the signposts when looking for your hotel in downtown Playa del Carmen.
